2014 Lyn Ballinger Challenge Luncheon

Well, what a day!
So much excitement, so many lovely challenges,

And the flowers,    what a stunning display.
Once again, a VERY BIG THANK YOU to Marie's Darling, Les.
The beautiful flowers really set the mood.  Thank you Les.

Hibiscus decorated the entire length of each table
Roses, real scented Roses, decorated our Buffet table

Each place setting had a pretty fabric backed menu.
Co-incidence or no?  Sheila's colour scheme fitted right in!

So much delicious food, all fresh tasting and flavour packed. As the younger set are wont to say...Major Yummo.

Our Challenge Judge was the lovely  Beverley Perel from Maleny Magic Q.S., can you imagine the excitement when Bev revealed that she had been to the Yokohama Quilt Show and had seen Pat's quilt "Beyond Art Deco Glass' on display there.
Spirits were high and laughter abounded, especially when Wendy and Beryl reckoned they coulda/shoulda/woulda made great models for the painting on the wall behind them.
I think they definitely have the assets!!

Bev was a great Judge, (apart from the hilarious story of the 'judging journey' - sorry the G&T was a tad late there Bev.) but she went into great detail on how she judged each piece and her criteria for the judging.
Bev also shared with us some news, we were the first to hear, and we all wish her the very best in the next adventure of her life.
There was a too, too delicious for words, pretty pink case on the table in front of Bev, and it aroused a great deal of curiosity, best guess was she had a really cute and unusual handbag.
Well, we were all 'goos' and 'gahs' and wishful mutterings when it was revealed that it was a lucky door prize!
Won by new member Lorraine C.!  Congratulations Lorraine.
Packed full of fatties, what a wonderful prize.
And those fab roses in the background,?  yep another bouquet from Les, they were presented to Bev and she was delighted.
Thank you again Les.

The Challenge brief was to make a cover/pouch for a hand held communication device and had to feature one or many circles.

The winners were:
!st Prize of a voucher with Maleney Patchwork won by Sue A
2nd Prize of a voucher with Patchwork Angel won by Yola
3rd Prize of a voucher with Patchwork Angel won by Pat
Update: sorry Pat and Yola, my bad, all fixed now. Yola was definitely second place winner with Pat being 3rd place winner.

Now, Yola is one of our Thursday night gals (read: works days), and could not be at the luncheon.
So here is Pat - not showing her piece, Bev - not showing Yola's piece and Sue - not showing her piece

Urmmm,  sorry, not even a sneak peek of what these winning lasses have in their little paws,
why?
wellll,
If I told you, that would spoil your voting fun for when you  visit the upcoming Textile Art Exhibition next weekend.

Congratulations to all the winners, Enjoy your shopping sprees, and a grateful thank you to Penny from the Angel and Bev from Maleny Magic for the wonderful prizes.

These are all the entries into the Challenge,

At the end of the day, looking around, not a flower in sight.............where had they all gone?? ..........well off to gladden  new homes of course!
Caught this pic as I left, waiting for her Darling, with a bouquet
Perfect end to a perfect day.

Hope you can pop into the Textile Art exhibition next weekend, there will be some amazing pieces on display, oh, and of course to buy, a little something for your heart, a little something for someone you love?.
Ahh,  to just absorb the vibes of love and talent that goes into handcrafted  goodies.   Lurve it!!
