Christmas Fair, off and running today

Wow, that word is an understatement of the work that has been put into creating some really great goodies for sale at our annual Christmas Fair.

It starts today - Friday 28th November 2014 at 2p.m......and as it's raining up here on the Sunshine Coast, what a great way to fill in some hours this arvo.
Our members swing into Christmas stitchin' mode after the Lyn Ballinger Challenge mid year, creating just about everything you can think of quilting wise, lots of the old favourites as well as some of the new and innovative.

 Kiddies Quilts are in abundance.

From Australian Fauna, I Spy,
Fun Monsters to African Animals
Modern designs and the traditional Sunbonnet Sue
Baby quilts and '1st big bed quilts'
 Bed quilts for every decor
Walls of them to choose from:
for every age group
 Large wall hangings, pictorial
and geometric
small and vibrant...
With loads of Christmas themed goodies in between
And toys, the cutest stuffed toys, and balls for Bub, but you will have to visit to see those...(v-b-g)
Of course none of this would be possible without the behind the scenes workers who set up such a wonderful visual feast, starting with the intake of goodies.
Ailsa and Michelle were our intake gals who beavered away marking off sheets and making sure all was tickey boo
this is just one pile of quilts they dealt with
and where was Michelle I hear you ask?   out grabbing them a coffee, thirsty work signing in!

Then comes the setting up, Sue was our Artistic Director (not sure if that meant she was in charge of all things artistic or was a reflection on the way she ordered directed her little band of helpers) and was the last to leave the post, checking the last details

Sadly, by the time we patchworkers had finished setting up our section, so had everyone else, funny that ehe? so no-one to ask permission to take pics.  However, got some from the Fabric Art gals next door, they always have such brilliant work and a wonderful range, of stocking stuffers and beautiful gifts, either for another....
or for yourself....
something for your home...
a gift for one of the younger set...check out the wonderful green frog.
and how about this little fella, I think I'm in lurve!
Now, just in case you haven't yet heard about the many folks who make up the 12 different groups of our Cottage, make yourself a drink of choice, something cool and refreshing or a warm and comforting hot chocolate, whatever...and pop on over to the  Buderim Craft Cottage website and have a browse, and then imagine the myriad of wonderful things you can buy for Christmas pressies, from little stocking stuffers up to a special quilt, a piece of jewelery for a loved one, a one off piece of pottery for the patio or garden....the list goes on and on.

A very special Birthday for a very special lady...

Yes, we had one of those milestone birthdays, one of those that end in an 0.  A fuss was made, - yeah, just love makin' a fuss for those special birthdays.
Flowers were presented...

Beautiful roses grown by our fave flower man Les and arranged by Marie.

and of course cake
along with a yummo arvo tea, delish sandwiches, dips and for an extra special, Patricia's wonderful home made shortbread....
A great day
Oh yeah, we did have show and tell...

Firstly, Karen sent us a pic of this amazing nappy holder she made for her new Grandie,
we did get to see it slightly unfinished 'in the flesh' before it was whisked away.
Marie had quite the collection of charity quilts to share...
Another take on H.S.T's

There are two of this cutie, as Marie said, the fabric was just too cute to cut up so two dear little bear quilts
Innovatively quilted with a lazy meander so as not to detract from the bears.

Another great idea to use up a 'too cute to cut' fabric, add wide borders for a quickly constructed quilt.
and finally, a vibrant sashed 'I Spy'
Denise had been making an I spy and had these squares left over, what to do with them?  give them to Marie of course!
