Big Birthdays and Big Excitement

Not sure if it is just our family, but mid year is definitely all about birthdays, does your families birthdays all fall in a close monthly pattern?.

At the Cottage we have had two Big '0' Birthdays in the last few weeks, firstly Lorraine had her 70th and was spoilt with cake and a very pretty hot pink rose bush.  Congratulations Lainey.

Inga celebrated her 90th recently, now that's a really big '0'. Karen shared a birthday pic with us.

Although Inga has not been to the Cottage for
some time, we organised a card and a gift to help her celebrate.  This is a
photo of her whilst she was having a birthday coffee with her daughter Betty.

Congratulations Inga, hope you had a wonderful Birthday

Sheila shared some pics of 'show and tell' goodies that will be on sale at our Quilt Exhibition and Sale which will be kicking off very shortly, Friday the 25th through to Sunday 27th.  Gather some friends together and have a great outing, whether you are looking for inspiration, a wonderful quilt for your home or a loved one or just a little something to spoil yourself, you will find it at the Cottage.

This amazing bag is made by Lorraine I. using linen & cotton reels from Pat Ward.  Cotton reels are glued & sewn like beads to make that pretty flower.  Bag  is lined & has a zippered pocket and will be for sale at our Quilt Show.

Sheila found this marbled fabric she made 20 years ago !  and created these placemats which will also be for sale at Quilt  show  along with many other special patchwork treasures made by our talented members.

Unfortunately I am now unable to join in the fun, but I know everyone will have a wonderful time, Patchwork members and visitors alike.

Our two youngest Grandies are disappointed not to have their latest quilts on display, so we have settled for sharing here on the blog.  When it came time to start thinking about a backing, and frankly, being a little over drafting and piecing characters (yes the original idea was to have one favourite character in a pieced backing) I fell over these Minecraft panels, they were the last two in stock!  Whew!! sooo much easier.

This site, 'Seriously..Ithink it needs stitches.' by Kelli Fannin was my go to for character patterns, without which the whole shebang would have taken so so much longer.  Kelli's patterns are just that little different to the usual 12 square patterns, so if by any chance you feel the urge to create a quilt or even a cushion I thoroughly recommend her patterns and site.
