Competition closed, mask question, education and videos.

This group really does have some wags amongst us.
So this popped up with the comment "be careful what your wish for:"
'Remember wishing the weekend would last forever?
Happy Now??!!!'

Greetings to us all from Jackie, who is working away on multiple projects, one way not to get bored!

'To all our quilters, hope everyone is doing well, I’m okay here, best wishes....Jackie'

Are you making masks?
Do you have any hints to share, Sue has asked what you are all using as a filter?
a search came up with the suggestion of car cleaning cloths, i.e. microfiber cloths, can't imagine dragging air through a microfiber cloth. Actually, hang on a sec, got some new ones, will go try. If I don't come back you will know it was not a success...well I'm back, Not too bad actually, one layer is not so noticeable, two layers was a little more effort but not to the stage where you felt that it was a challenge to breathe.
This site had some interesting test results, including the chart below.

Caught sight of this idea, A bucket hat with face shield, it's recommended you also wear a face mask under the shield.
A search online will bring up a few sites, you can get one for about AU$28, so far haven't found a pattern, surely some talented soul will come up with the goods in the near future.

Sheila sent a vid link for Beatles fans (Played it full bore, it floated out across the street, kid across the road working on his car gave a wave and turned up his hip hop, what a laugh! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxOJ7hh3H-I

She also sent us a little education.
'This is from Wilkpedia. I read about this in a fiction novel I was reading & thought I would check it out?
No jokes. Interesting history. I disagree that ‘ blue’ is common as it is my favourite colour !! S'

Complementary colours and colours psychology[edit]

The "rose of temperaments" (Temperamentenrose), an earlier study (1798/9) by Goethe and Schiller, matching twelve colours to human occupations or their character traits (tyrants, heroes, adventurers, hedonists, lovers, poets, public speakers, historians, teachers, philosophers, pedants, rulers), grouped in the four temperaments.
Goethe also included aesthetic qualities in his colour wheel, under the title of "allegorical, symbolic, mystic use of colour" (Allegorischer, symbolischer, mystischer Gebrauch der Farbe), establishing a kind of color psychology. He associated red with the "beautiful", orange with the "noble", yellow to the "good", green to the "useful", blue to the "common", and violet to the "unnecessary". These six qualities were assigned to four categories of human cognition, the rational (Vernunft) to the beautiful and the noble (red and orange), the intellectual (Verstand) to the good and the useful (yellow and green), the sensual (Sinnlichkeit) to the useful and the common (green and blue) and, closing the circle, imagination (Phantasie) to both the unnecessary and the beautiful (purple and red

Then followed up with:
'Hi My sewing efforts for week 2
5 green blocks for group quilt. (Hope a few others are making some )
11 face masks for family members
Cutting out 32 Squares for my future Japanese quilt. These are cut from second hand Japanese garment which I washed & unpicked! S'

No grass growing under Sheila's feet!

from Sue, a little dance from Laurel and Hardy.

Sue also sent a pic along of what she has been up to this week
"This is what I have been doing, making drainage bags, not cleaning my sewing room. But am keeping busy."

Our group competition on guessing who's sewing room or space is now ended. We had 14 lovely ladies who sent us pics of their sewing room/space, when we get back to the cottage there will be a little 'thank you' something for taking the time to participate.
The competition is to match the sewing space pics to their owner. The first gal to e-mail me with the most correct match-ups will win a cute sewing lanyard with a removable phone pouch. Good Luck to you all, oh and B.T.W. there are hints in both the pics and the words.

We have a number of followers to our blog, and in this unsettling time of lockdowns and self isolating it would be nice to have a competition that we could all could participate in, any ideas?? leave a comment below or e-mail me and we will have a go at organising another competition.
