"Jules, who loves Scottie dogs received this quilt as a gift from her sister in law, in centre of each hexagon flower is a tiny Scottie dog. Jules friendship blocks from group also feature Scottie dogs.

As usual there was chocolate to help us concentrate on work!"

Charity Quilts, Lockdown Quilts & a very hand gizmo for you to make

Ailsa has been very busy during lockdown making some quilts to
be donated. She sent them along to Karen to take to Nambour this week

Sheila showed us this little drawstring bag made for her by a friend.
As Sheila says - "Bag made by Ruth Blom ,aged 98 , a former member of
the Buderim craft cottage for many years. Ruth belonged to pottery ,
china painting and needlework. She was Sheila’s neighbour for 10 years
before moving to Ipswich. She has a small singer sewing machine set up
in her room in Villa Maria nursing home and continues to make drawstring
bags. What an inspiration!"

Sue contemplating which circle should go next. What will this be when
it is finished? She won't tell.

Loraine C. caught up with an e-mail and pics of her beautiful quilts.
"Photos of two quilts I have done this year - other small baby quilts that I sewed I did not photograph. The Star is a foundation piecing that I did in 2016 - from stash fabric! So I put it together and did the free motion quilting during Covid. The pattern and directions for 'Star' quilt is from Jeanne Harrison. It was a block of the month - all online. I sewed everything on my Janome Horizon - quilting the centre section and the four large outer triangles separately, then joining them together.

There is also a Facebook page. I think Jeanne passed away last year - she was a wonderful teacher of free motion quilting online."

Sue has sent us a link to Lori Kenney's blog with a tutorial to make a reusable Transparent Overlay to test your quilt designs. A brilliant idea.

Oh Heck, not to panic anyone, but...

...according to our counter we are into the last 12 months before our quilt show, and we all know how time flies, so yeah, less than a year to go!

Sue shared her work to date on her Minecraft Sword last week, this week, she shared the finished cushion along with quick instructions.
Sue's first hint is a goodie, choose the character yourself, don't ask the Grandie, otherwise instead of a simple little pig face, you could end up in Sue's boat, with a request for a sword.

Instructions on how to create your version of a Minecraft sword or indeed any other minecraft character. Sue's cushion measures 20" square.
Draw a 1.5" grid on the back of fusible webbing, map out the sword
Flip the grid over to glue side up and arrange 1.5" scant cut squares of fabric where needed, fuse down using either a teflon pressing sheet or some silicone paper. Sue didn't cut 1.5" squares for the background, opting for larger cuts of fabric.
When all is fused down, fold all vertical lines and using a quarter inch seam, stitch all lines, then fold all horizontal lines and stitch, this will leave you with nice straight seams and 1" finished squares. Use your favorite method to create a cushion cover. Jackson is one excited and pleased young man and has opted to have his cushion cover posted instead of waiting for a visit for the complete cushion. Wise choice Jackson!

For those of us who loved Craftsy, more bad news I'm afraid, a f/book post this a.m. from So Sew Easy bought the bad news that Bluprint is closing down.

There is a letter to customers from CEO John Levisay that you should read which says in part:

'For now, I wanted to let you know that we are looking at various options to allow those of you who have purchased individual classes to receive a copy of your classes. This includes individual classes purchased with own forever credits.'
So folks, go brush up on your purchased classes and down load your purchased patterns while there is still time. Hopefully we will be able to access or copy our purchased classes, but with this crazy world, there are never any guarantees.

Rose Haliday-Smith,

We are sharing some sad news today from Karen about Rose for others who may be interested.
Sue has unearthed a very helpful tutorial from Laura of 'So Very Easy' and the links to Kelli Fannins Pokemon, Harry Potter and Minecraft Quilt alongs.

"Hi all – it is with much sadness that Sue Webb has let Sheila know that Rose Halliday-Smith, a long time member of the Buderim Craft Cottage has passed away.
Rose was a valued member of Fabric Art as well as the Patchwork Group.

Rose was a judge of our rainforest challenge years ago. Sheila also thinks Rose and Marg Gibbs did the 50 years wall hanging design.

Funeral numbers are restricted but if anyone was particularly keen to attend the service for Rose, they should contact Sue Webb or contact me and I can pass the message on.

Our thoughts and wishes go out to Rose’s family and friends."

"Rose Halliday-Smith was the most creative and original person I have known.
She dabbled in almost all types of creative fabric ideas. She has exhibited and taught in venues almost everywhere.
She was always ready and willing to give help and advice, and, if necessary, a different viewpoint and she always did it with the most lovely way of speaking with a smile in her voice and on her face.
I haven’t seen her for a couple of years but she always tried to visit out quilt show and had nice things to say about everybody’s work.
A great lady and will be missed by me as well as many others.
