Wandering in a Wonder Land

Popped up to the Cottage today, just for half a sec to grab something, the Darling was driving and opted not to come in, after all, just going to be half a sec, well it was more than half a sec I can be telling you!... shot past a busy bunch of ladies and grabbed what was needed, turned to leave and the full force of lusciousness was almost overwhelming.

Staggered out to the Darling to ask, ever so prettily, if he would be so kind as to come in and take pics using his phone camera (why do you never have a decent camera handy when you need it?!?!)
He did, and here are the results.
But I really have to tell you, the pics are just a very small indication of the fantastic work to be seen,
The first lovelies to be spotted is "recover", the gals have pushed to boundaries of yarn bombing of some very interesting items, as these pics show.

New life for a little one's stool.

 

Another stool, how about the insect life living happily on the leg, and that sneaky orange spider peeking out from under the green fringe.

A trike with a story, lots of stories, to the rear there are long stemmed flowers utilising brolly spines as stems, the shorter flowers, and one could be wrong here, but are they utilising Knitting Needles for the stalks?  but just cast your gaze down in front to the trikes rear wheel, the Cactus and the rock, well they are, rocks that is, yep, bombed rocks!

The harsh Queensland sun faded this brolly along the spines, solution, applique some beautiful ribbon embroidered strips along the spines.

 When you visit, spot the 'Bull and Horns'..........amazing, it has been created by 'bombing' a bicycle seat and handlebars!



There are piles of the most amazing knitted goodies in the traditional vein, not unlike the lovelies that have previously been seen on this blog,

 along with some wonderful knitted jumpers (known as sweaters elsewhere)

and.....how about these guys? what fun.

There are also some delightful flat teddy bears, missed that pic but just delightful for a newborn and his slightly elder brother to snuggle into as they drift off to sleep.


There are even some quilts, this one is on loan from a Grandie with the promise by Granny that she will look after it very very carefully.

Mind you, that same Granny is gonna be very busy, she made the same promise to another Grandie who was kind enough to loan this folding 4 room Dolls House. 

Following thru from the Yarn Bombing, the wonderful Yarns and Fibers goodies, and on past the Quilts, an Aladdin's Cave of the most exquisite needlework opens up, the brilliance of this work has to be seen 'in the flesh' to really appreciate it.

Artists Journal, so so tempting to just have a tinsy peek inside, was good, didn't, (probably because Pam was watching)

Of course, with so many of these works, the framing is an integral part of the over all effect  and really sets the mood.

Another ribbon Embroidery, was told that some of these ribbons were over the $40. a mtr mark, now honestly, you just have to see them up close to appreciate the subtleties of colour and weave.

Cannot tell you how wonderful it was to wander around and just appreciate the beauty, to marvel at the tinsy stitches, the amazing vision of so many of the pieces, many more that are not showing here, some just were in the wrong spot for pics.
As one of the gals mentioned, this is the work that is not shown at Fairs, articles made with so much love for family and friends, and especially those treasures created for the pleasure of the creator.

If you are in our neck of the woods this weekend, or even vaguely nearby, pamper yourself, pop over, and just relax and take it all in, and when the need to take a little rest arises, treat yourself to a lovely Devonshire Tea or even a rather yummy Patty Cake.

After the Fair, it's all about relaxing and catching up

This weeks blog is very kindly bought to you by Lorraine, she took the pics, wrote the words and e-mailed them off so all I have had to do is pop them into a post for you all.  Thank You Lorraine, it is most appreciated.

Judy was starting a quilt full of clam shells. This is the first row. It will be a queen size quilt and she is already cutting a sizable hole in her stash of Japanese fabrics.

 Gwen is hand quilting. She saw this pattern not long ago and said that she just had to make it. Another good use for all her fabrics.

Lyn is still busy making animal quilts for the grandkids. This has been on the go for most of the year. The animals change from week to week.

 

Deanne is working on lots of Southern Stars. Can’t wait to see them all put together.

 

 

Marguerite is candle wicking. Up to her usual standard she said she has put in 5 stiches today. Well, a girl does have to keep up with the goes and check out what everybody else is doing.

 

 

The show and tell table had some interesting things on it.

Lyn has made a litter of puppies. They will soon be off to a good home with each of 3 granddaughters.

 

(Someone, who's name shall stay a secret just for now) made this lovely bag to sell at the Easter Fair. She was a bit slow in finishing it so it will be a birthday present for her sister instead. Maybe I better not say that in case her sister reads the blog. 

Ailsa made time to make some string pieced squares for Val's charity quilt.

 

Lorraine made an 'I spy' quilt a little bit differently to her usual. This is for a friend’s newest family member, the eldest brother has already got one of Lainey’s regular I spy quilts so something a little different was called for.

 A good search around the fabric shop found this lovely range of circus prints from Benetex called 'Under the Big Top'.

The back is a cot panel from the range but was too small to use by itself so I put on some border fabric from the Big Top range.

Easter Fair Sneak Peek

Popped up to the Cottage for a little peek at the Goodies that will be offered for sale on Saturday, gosh our Cottage grounds look smart. 

 

 The amazing Gals and Guys who volunteer for this work, laying pavers, creating garden beds, including the sweetest little garden featuring a bird bath, obviously courtesy of the Potters group. and all the other hard work that goes into keeping gardens looking in tip top shape, these folk deserve a round of applause.

So, into the Cottage to our Patchwork Groups area, just in time to catch the gals hard at work...umm..packing up...really?

Yep - all done - beautifully, just look at the wonderful array of goodies all laid out for your perusal on Saturday.

The Juniors section, quilts, knee quilts, baby quilts, wall hangings, and stuffed toys, including a couple of 'monster' pillows.

Can't resist, here's a closer peek at those monsters along with some bags, table runners, a lovely little smock with bloomers and some more stuffed toys, along with a cute 'tooth fairy' pillow.

Very Japanese, the screen effect, the central panel, a lovely quilt.

Who doesn't love tractors?

What a choice of kennels Spot and his pals have to choose from.

A Teddy medallion next to an intricatly pieced 'stars and windmills' quilt with loads of other goodies spread along the table.

Really cute and useful half aprons, kiddies aprons, gardening gloves, a pastel strip pieced quilt and Sue's doggie banner.

More of a Japanese flavour with Gisha girls and kimono's, along with some really bright table runners.

 and lastly, Heather was just making sure all was ready to roll at 8a.m Saturday, with a couple of lovely bright quilts behind her.

and so, a small peek at some of the other groups set ups,

Karel from Fiber Arts was working hard at getting their lovely goodies displayed beautifully.  

Have really got to admire the talent of these lassies, the amazing creations, from the ever so useful hats, berets,scarves, capes and shawls.

onto knee rugs (Wow!! how about that 'Granny Square' revival) memories are that Granny Square blankets were made from scraps and leftover balls of wool, the modern crocheter is all about design and colour play!

and of course, the whimsical, who could go past a little chickie in his own knitted egg/bed and the delicious 'guaranteed no calories' caramel tarts, cupcakes and other delicacies.

Next stop was with the Machine Embroiders Group's area.
Took a little license, the lasses from Machine Embroidery were not around but, just wanted to give you a peek at the fab work these gals have produced for the Fair.
First up this stunner.


then there are baby bibs, baskets, toys...

hand towels, and so much more including some stunning banners and quilts.

Pam from the Needlework Group was just scooting out the door but pointed out some special pieces from her group, really, so many, so beautifully worked, so, so delicate..
Such as these feminine nighties, really, the stuff dreams are made of.

And just look at this beautiful smocking, not to mention all the other beautifully worked articles.
Need a card for someone you love to bits?   yep, there they are, just waiting.

along with so many other lovely creations.

 

Barbara and Pat were caught re-arranging the last of the goodies from the China Painters.

This lovely plate was an eye catcher.

Pat 'fessed up, these nursery rhyme mugs are some of her work.

 and the of course others have worked on  other items such as the tinsy slippers, the egg cups and an array of plates.

The remaining groups will be setting up tomorrow, I guess you will have to wait and see what they have for you!!
