We all know how to bind a quilt, right?
Well Linda Hungerford, a fellow QDU'er (online quilting group) has posted a tutorial on her blog http://flourishingpalms.blogspot.com/ on a method that I have not previously come across.
o.k. you all probably know all about it, but I'm sucked in and am trying it a.s.a.p, just got to get the borders done on the little sucker I'm working on, and its going to get Linda's binding treatment.
Linda's method is one of "no joining and has machine-sewn mitred corners". Looks really cool, can't wait to try it. Check out Linda's blog for some other great tutorials as well, her scalloped edges look really interesting. - No not Linda's edges, her quilt, she doesn't look scalloped at all
Linda also has her tutorial on SEWN, just click on the red button with - strangely enough - SEWN written across it in the side bar.
While you are visiting SEWN check out the new 'Sew and Sell' section and just to make it even more interesting, if you register you will receive a six month free on-line magazine subscription to Down Under Quilts, its great, every month you get an e-mail with a 'click on link' to the magazine, just make a cuppa and sit down to enjoy some wonderful inspiration and beautiful quilts.
SEWN and Down Under Quilts are jointly running a great competition for a 'Most Gorgeous Pincushion Challenge' and hey!, look at that!, one of the businesses giving prizes for the challenge is our local Patchwork Angel, along with
The Quilters Store and Embroiders' Store http://www.quiltersstore.com.au/
The Stitching Post http://www.thestitchingpost.com.au/ and
Blue Willow Cottage http://www.bluewillowcottage.com.au/
a n d , yes there is more, the current Giveaway at SEWN is two sets of Urban Chicks tea towels and Moda Home potholders, now wouldn't they be the bestest thing to be sitting on the bench when guests arrive......hint, hint, pick up my beautiful tea towel and wipe up a dish or two!.....yep, I can see that!
So now off to make busy, and pretend I haven't been reading mags on the net.......Oh and no, there aren't any brown paper bags in my efforts to unearth interesting sites for you, just a fan of 'the net'.
