Guess Who

Well, this is going to be a blast!, so far we have 6 pics and 4 entrants.

But first one of those dreaded U.F.O'S has bitten the dust.

"Going through boxes when I was trying to do my "Tidy and chuck" (which I still intend to finish) I found things I had forgotten all about. The three panels in this quilt for instance.

I don't know just what I had in mind for the panels when I made them, and I think the fabric originally intended to finish it off went to another project. But I found some fabrics in another box to finish it. I have plenty of boxes with plenty of fabric.

We also got 2 late entries last night from Karen that I'm including here, Karen's story is a bit of a hoot.

Karen's Story:
"Okay - so I am in the middle - with what some would say is a fancy dress
costume on.
I will have to correct you - it was my pink silky negligee. Yes, my
parents would let me walk around everywhere with that over my normal
clothes.
This phase of my life only lasted for TWO years. I often think about that
negligee, who owned it before me and what were my parents thinking!"

Guess Who? competition. Rules (really? rules?) anyhoo, same as the Guess Who's sewing room, except that multiple pics will be entered as singles, that is, no connecting of the pics.....heheheh.... The competition will run for a couple of weeks, providing of course there is a continuance of pics arriving. There will be a prize for the first totally correct answers to hit my e-mail or phone, they are all date:time stamped so an easy fix.

"Cute, wasn’t I??
The dress was pink with large black sequins. I helped mum sew on some of the beads and sequins. It was for my ballet school’s end of year show. Can’t remember what the dance was about but I wasn’t in ballet shoes in the photo.
The hat was made of cardboard and stitched together then painted with glossy house paint to match the costume with more sequins probably glued on."

Easter Saturday 2020 - Boy oh Boy, we will never forget this one!!

There have been so many wonderful Easter Fairs held at the Cottage over the years, but none of us will ever forget the Fair that wasn't.

"36 blocks I have made using Japanese fabrics ( have had some long before I went to Japan. ) Although they look like drunkards path blocks I have cut them freehand ( templates is a swear word ) !

Marie shared a story about the bickie recipe from the 'Cleaning Tip and Challenge' post.
Marie's internet has been down, now fixed (thankfully) but doing a catch up run through the blog she spotted the 3 ingredient bickies from 'One Pot Chef', Yep, Marie makes this very recipe but with the addition of 1C of crushed peanuts! As we all know, Marie is a dab hand in the bickie department and tells us that without the crushed nuts the biscuits are more of a shortbread type but with the nuts they are more than delicious, even beats jam drops! (Gotta be good to beat jam drops.)

Do you have any hints to share, Sue has asked what you are all using as a filter?
a search came up with the suggestion of car cleaning cloths, i.e. microfiber cloths, can't imagine dragging air through a microfiber cloth. Actually, hang on a sec, got some new ones, will go try. If I don't come back you will know it was not a success...well I'm back, Not too bad actually, one layer is not so noticeable, two layers was a little more effort but not to the stage where you felt that it was a challenge to breathe.

Caught sight of this idea, A bucket hat with face shield, it's recommended you also wear a face mask under the shield.

A search online will bring up a few sites, you can get one for about AU$28, so far haven't found a pattern, surely some talented soul will come up with the goods in the near future.

"This is what I have been doing, making drainage bags, not cleaning my sewing room. But am keeping busy."

Our group competition on guessing who's sewing room or space is now ended. We had 14 lovely ladies who sent us pics of their sewing room/space, when we get back to the cottage there will be a little 'thank you' something for taking the time to participate.
The competition is to match the sewing space pics to their owner. The first gal to e-mail me with the most correct match-ups will win a cute sewing lanyard with a removable phone pouch. Good Luck to you all, oh and B.T.W. there are hints in both the pics and the words.

We have a number of followers to our blog, and in this unsettling time of lockdowns and self isolating it would be nice to have a competition that we could all could participate in, any ideas?? leave a comment below or e-mail me and we will have a go at organising another competition.

Cleaning Tip and a challenge

Wendy is the queen of cleaning ideas and home made cleaners. Her general cleaner with Eucalyptus oil is a winner, one of our faves.
Hello everyone
I thought you might be interested in a cleaning tip I have recently tried as we are all wanting to keep things especially clean at this time. For any bathroom grime or mould get your toilet cleaner, the gel one works best, and just run it along the grout lines in the shower or in the sink around taps etc. Leave overnight and next morning it all comes sparkling clean with hardly any effort.

With self isolation and social distancing, cooking a large batch of anything probably isn't what you want to spend your time on. This recipe surfaced on face book this morning courtesy of 'The One Pot Chef', just 3 ingredients (1 C white sugar, 1 egg, 1 C peanut butter) made 25 small biscuits.

No, haven't tried it but it looks intriguing, and being only small bickies, you won't have to be popping into the togs anytime soon.
